Jane’s Addiction Has Announced a Final Breakup
Moments before a dramatic onstage confrontation would have shattered the reunion, the group has now decided to part ways for good. Perry Farrell and the band’s official account posted a joint statement on Instagram, offering apologies to both fans and fellow members. “I’d like to address what happened on stage last year,” Farrell wrote, explaining that he has reflected on his behavior and regrets how he conducted himself. He apologized to the audience and to his bandmates for losing his temper and for throwing the performance off balance. Shortly after, a second post from the band’s account echoed the sentiment, announcing that the four members have come together one last time to put their differences to rest, ensuring Jane’s Addiction’s legacy remains the collaborative body they created together.
The saga began in September 2024, when Farrell was filmed striking Dave Navarro during a Boston show. In the days that followed, the remaining reunion tour dates were canceled. In the year that followed, Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins filed lawsuits against Farrell seeking $10 million, citing emotional distress and breach of contract tied to the canceled dates. Farrell responded with a countersuit, alleging years of bullying within the group and asserting he had no control over canceling the tour and would not have agreed to do so because of the financial and reputational fallout.
Whether this joint Instagram statement marks a legal settlement or simply a final verbal agreement remains unclear, but one thing is certain: the chapter on Jane’s Addiction as a working unit has closed for good.
